LILITH
”Lilith” is the primordial woman of myths, created by God independently from Adam. This genesis endowed her with the right to selfhood and her own will. She left Eden not out of rebellion, but because Adam refused to accept her as an equal, demanding submission instead of love and respect.
Lilith ignored the first man and consciously chose freedom by uttering the Ineffable Name. For this rejection of the imposed role, she was labeled a demon (lilitu) and banished to the night. Yet, for her, this status became a symbol of unrestrained will and independence. Away from Paradise, she gained a multitude of opportunities and many “Adams,” whom she chose herself.
This small sculpture, crafted from boxwood that was dried for over thirty years, embodies the image of a powerful feminine soul who demands love, responsibility, and respect from a man, but will never accept limits to her freedom.
Material: Boxwood. Height: 13 cm. Year: 2002.
