The netsuke “Tigress and a cub” is a typical theme for Japanese miniature sculptures. It depicts the maternal love and care of a tigress for her cub. The tigress protects and nurtures the cub, symbolizing the strong bond between a mother and her child. Such netsuke are often used as amulets to bring good luck and protect their owner.
