Long ago, at the bottom of the ocean, lived an octopus named Tsukitori (月捕り)—”Moon Catcher.” He had eight tentacles and eight memories: each of something vanished. One was of a current that no longer existed. Another was of a fish whispering dreams. A third was of a storm that passed without a trace. The rest were of lost meanings, elusive as the movement of a wave…

Over time, Tsukitori realized: everything he remembered had lost its weight, and everything that existed needed no memory. He left the ocean and lay down on a moon-shaped rock under the open sky. People thought he was a paper holder—a convenient shape. But everyone who touched him suddenly remembered something they had never known: the taste of transparency, the sound of silence, the outlines of their own thoughts. A luminous Crab (蟹, Kani) appears on the glowing Moonstone, next to the Guardian. Its fiery color creates a dramatic contrast and begs the question: will it become the Octopus’s next prey or its new protector? The true fate of these profound forces lies hidden below: at its base lies a fish skeleton (魚の骨), created using the Maki-e technique and the silver powder of Marufun. It carries within it the silent knowledge of the price of possession and the truth that all things, even great battles for the Moon, ultimately return to the mysterious depths. 2025
